Regional Grading - March 2023

Saturday 11th March 2023 saw students of SKIF Wales and SKIF Bristol take part in the regional grading, held at St Bedes Catholic College in Lawrence Weston, Bristol.

The event commenced at 1:00pm with an hour long training session headed by Sensei Dave Griffiths (7th Dan).  Sensei Griffiths took the students through a series of Kihon combinations before splitting the class for Kihon Ippon kumite and Gohon Kumite for the white belts.

Finally under both Sensei Griffiths and Sensei Nick Bruce-Jones each grade was taken through their Kata.

After a short break, the grading commenced - students getting up in grade order and put through the grading syllabus by Sensei Steve Ashby, whilst Sensei Griffiths and Sensei Bruce-Jones acted as examiners.

In all 2 students successfully passed from SKIF Wales and 31 from Kyoto.  A big turn-out and a lot of students to examine.
In addition a further 5 younger students passed their Mon grades.

Well done to those students that passed - Sensei Griffiths was very impressed with the standard.
And of course thank you to all the other karate-ka that came along to train and support everyone.

After training a few of the seniors headed to a local hospitality for pizza.
