Sensei Dave Griffiths

Sensei Dave Griffiths Started karate in 1979 and Joined S.K.I.G.B. in 1980. He has been a lifelong student of Hanshi Shiro Asano 9th Dan S.K.I.F, attaining all his grades from 9th kyu up to 7th dan under his great mentor.

During this period of 43 years he has been a regular attendee at national courses and championships. Very much a traditionalist, he has been honoured to represent
S.K.I.F. Wales and S.K.I.F.GB in both kata and kumite at European and World level, winning a number of trophies and medals.

The highlight and most humbling experience of his Karate life coming in 2006 when he was awarded the Wilkinson sword of honour by Hanshi Asano, for his dedication, commitment and loyalty to his students and to Shotokan Karatedo.

Sensei Griffiths runs a weekly club in his hometown of Newport, South Wales and holds the Squad sessions for Wales and the West country.
