SKIF WALES
SKIF Wales was founded in 1980 by Sensei Dave Griffiths (7th Dan).
Since its foundation it has been affiliated to Shotokan Karate International Federation of Great Britain (SKIF-GB), under the legendary Hanshi Shiro Asano (9th Dan).
We teach traditional Shotokan Karate here in Newport, Wales, with classes several times a week.

Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF) is a traditional karate association with over 100 member countries and was founded by the legendary Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa (10th Dan).

Sensei Dave Griffiths Started karate in 1979 and Joined S.K.I.G.B. in 1980. He has been a lifelong
student of Hanshi Shiro Asano 9th Dan S.K.I.F, attaining all his grades from 9th kyu up to 7th dan
under his great mentor.
Sensei Nick Dunbar began his Karate journey in 1997 Under the tuition of sensei Griffiths. He also
has attained all his grades under Hanshi Asano.
Our Assistant Instructors are long standing students of SKIF Wales and are all black belts. They will on occasion be asked to help out with Instructing students individually.
DOJO: LYSAGHTS INSTITUTE
On Wednesday evenings we hold classes at the beautiful ballroom at the Lysaghts Institute.
DOJO: LLANDEVAUD
On Monday evenings we hold classes in the village of Llandevaud, Newport.
DOJO: ROGIET
On Saturday mornings we hold classes in the church hall at Rogiet.
